April Fools... Oh Wait!

Wow, how long has it been since Realms of Encypher was updated? April 4…so we’ve been AWOL for four weeks. I knew that there would be some slip-up with Spring Break, but I didn’t think it would be this bad. Just to let you know, direct any hate at Yoshy, though it isn’t completely his fault. Yoshy and I are, and were, in “crunch mode” for most of April and some parts before. As our AP World History exam looms closer, the work has definitely piled on. Add to this our really big English Honors research paper/debate and tons of labs/projects from our homework-happy Bio Honors teacher, and some thing has to give, in this case, the site. I, for one, have had to give up writing Mythril Dynasty Legends, playing games, and watching anime. Plus, Yoshy and I were both away on vacation for most of Spring Break (more about that later).
Once May 5th has passed, though, we can hopefully get back to a more regular schedule. Once the school year ends and summer rolls around, I’ve got some more stuff I’m going to do for the site, including game and anime reviews, admin profiles, the start of a new story, and possibly some drawings. Keep checking back, and don’t be surprised if an update is a couple of days late or just doesn’t happen. We do have lives.
My Spring Break was great. We visited Southern Utah first, hiking in Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. The West is just amazing; try to see it some time. After that, we hung out in Las Vegas for a while in a pyramid-themed hotel. I hope that I’ll be able to do a report of my vacation for this site, once I get a chance. It was truly an adventure.
E3 looms ever closer, and while there are some cool games I’d like to hear more about (such as Tales of Symphonia, Resident Evil 4, and Nintendo’s latest connectivity game), the thing I’ll be most interested in is the mysterious Nintendo DS, or Project Nitro as it is also known. It is designed to have two screens and still be a handheld; one of the screens is likely to be a touch-screen. Wireless capabilities abound, along with N64+ graphics and rumored disc support instead of cartridges, though it will be GBA/GBC compatible as well. I must agree with Nintendo on the fact that there is no real innovation in video games anymore. All the consoles just improve on graphics and previously-established standards. Even the GBA and upcoming PSP are just stronger, “superior” versions to the GBC and other old handhelds. Hopefully, the Nintendo DS will have some strong support behind it to rocket it into popularity, because the industry needs innovation.
On a side note, I’d like to point out that I don’t agree with Nintendo’s decision that online games are unimportant. Almost any game could use online support, especially for multiplayer. Imagine going into Super Smash Bros. Melee and finding an opponent to fight from Japan. (You would lose instantly, of course.) MMORPGs are really progressing, and networks of friends are formed online, especially if voice-support is involved. Much as I hate the Xbox and realize that it is throwing Microsoft’s (unlimited) money away with Xbox Live, I must respect it for being an online powerhouse, and the PS2 to a lesser degree.
Don’t forget, the PG-oriented version of Toonami (as opposed to Y7 rated) is every Saturday, with shows like Gundam Seed! Show support and increase the ratings to encourage more of this, else Toonami is destroyed by crappy shows and decisions. Oh, and at all costs, avoid the new Miguzi Y7 block that replaced Toonami weekdays. It doesn’t even have any anime, only anime-rip-off shows! Send Cartoon Network a message that anime fans want anime, not crap. And, as always, enjoy Adult Swim, which has new episodes of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law every Sunday!
And now, the happy face. =)

Yoshy Tri Star

Well, I have been very busy lately. Combined with the fact that I’m an Star Kingdoms alliance officer, and the fact that family members also need the computer, I have kinda been out of it. I get on, do my homework, then have to get off. Good news though. I got a new computer! Nothing special, but its slightly better than what I have now. Yes, and that’s right, I don’t have to share it with anyone… ANYONE!!!

Oh, right, about the topic of this rant. Well, I ordered the new computer on the 27th at night. It said it wasn’t going to ship until the 30th. So, what do you know, but it shows up at my door on the 29th! One day BEFORE it was supposed to ship. Now I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty good. Now here’s the kicker. It came by the mail, not UPS, not fedEX, but the actual incredibly slow United States Postal Service. It has renewed my faith in the mail system, dispite the fact that one month earlier I happened to receive a certain item 1 week late… Anyways, the site should be updated on time from now on, especially because I found an auto-updating queue for the FTP program I use, meaning I will be able to update the site, at midnight, even though I may be asleep. Byes.
